Southside Camera is owned by Raja and Beulah Padmaja Vejendla, a wife and husband team. It all started with a Pentax Spotmatic in the 1980's for Raja as a hobby. Soon, it grew into a business, as he started buying and collecting different models from various brands - Pentax to Canon AE1, Nikon FM, Contax RTS, Hasseblad CM and Leica M. He shot many weddings with his Hasselblad CM. In 1991, Raja decided to open his frist camera shop in Turlock, CA. Beulah joined him in 1992 to help run the business.

They relocated to Bakersfield in 1995, and purchased Southside Camera in 1998. Southside Camera is a mom and pop store which thrives on excellent customer service. Most of our customers are referred to us from satisfied customers who appreciate the high quality of customer service we provide We have collected many hard to find items and collectible camera equipment over the past twenty years. Raja is a collector first, a seller second.. If we don't have the particular peice of camera equipment you are looking for, we can find it for you. Contact us with your camera wishlist.
